How We Work2026-02-11T17:05:25+00:00

From Our Pasture to Your Freezer

We’ve streamlined ordering premium Black Angus beef to make it easy for your family. Here’s how it works from start to finish.

YOUR JOURNEY TO PREMIUM BEEF

From the moment you place your order to the day you pick up your beef, here’s what to expect.

STEP 1: RESERVE YOUR BEEF

We sell out every year, so the earlier you order, the better!

What happens:

  • Choose between a half (375-425 lbs hanging weight) or whole (750-800 lbs hanging weight)
  • Pay your $500 deposit online or via the contact form
  • Receive confirmation and order details
  • Your spot is secured!

Important: Orders must be placed by March to guarantee beef in the same calendar year. After that, you may be placed on our waitlist for the following year.

STEP 2: WE RAISE YOUR BEEF

While you wait, we’re hard at work raising premium Black Angus cattle on our family farm.

What happens:

  • Your steer or heifer grazes on our pastures
  • No growth hormones, no steroids – just ethical, natural raising practices
  • Grass-fed, then grain-finished for optimal marbling and tenderness
  • Our children (Wyatt, Hank, and Annie) help with daily care and feeding
  • All cattle are processed under 2 years of age for peak quality

Fun fact: You’re supporting youth development and teaching valuable lessons about animal stewardship!

STEP 3: PROCESSING TIME

Your beef is delivered to our trusted local processor for expert handling.

What happens:

  • Cattle are delivered to the processer in late October
  • Your beef will hang for approximately 3 weeks for superior tenderness and flavor
  • Each animal is carefully processed to your specifications (more on that in Step 4!)
  • We receive the hanging weight from the processor

Processing costs: Approximately $1.00/lb hanging weight (paid separately to processor)

STEP 4: CUSTOMIZE YOUR CUTS

This is where you make it yours! Unlike buying quarters (where you can’t customize), our halves and wholes give you full control.

What happens:

  • The processor will contact you directly to discuss your cutting preferences
  • Choose your cuts: steaks, roasts, ground beef, etc.
  • Decide on thickness of steaks
  • Select special cuts or requests
  • Everything is custom to your family’s preferences!

Popular options:

  • Ribeyes, sirloins, T-bones, filets
  • Chuck roasts, brisket, short ribs
  • Ground beef
  • Stew meat, kabob meat, jerky meat, fajita meat
  • Specialty cuts (tri-tip, flank steak, etc.)

STEP 5: FINAL PAYMENT

Once we know the exact hanging weight of your beef, we’ll contact you for final payment.

What happens:

  • We receive hanging weights from the processor
  • Price: $6.00 per pound hanging weight
  • Average half: ~400 lbs = $2,400
  • Average whole: ~800 lbs = $4,800
  • Pay the balance (minus your $500 deposit)

Example calculation:

  • Whole beef at 800 lbs hanging weight
  • 800 lbs × $6.00 = $4,800
  • Minus $500 deposit = $4,300 final payment
  • Plus ~$800 processing (paid separately to processor)

STEP 6: PICKUP YOUR BEEF

Common Questions

We’re happy to answer!

What about processing costs?2026-02-09T12:59:07+00:00
Processing is approximately $1.00 per pound hanging weight and is paid separately to the processor. This covers cutting, wrapping, vacuum sealing, and freezing. You’ll pay the processor directly.
Do you offer payment plans?2026-02-09T12:59:17+00:00
The $500 deposit is due at ordering to secure your spot. The final balance is due the first week of November. If you need special payment arrangements, please contact us to discuss options.
What if I can’t pick up in December?2026-02-09T12:59:28+00:00
Contact us as soon as possible. We may be able to work out alternative arrangements, but our standard pickup is the first week of December at our central NWA location.
How big are the cattle?2026-02-09T12:59:35+00:00
Our steers and heifers typically reach a finish weight of 1,200-1,600 pounds live weight, which equals a hanging weight of around 750-900+ pounds. They’re not small!
Why grain-finished instead of grass-finished?2026-02-09T12:59:46+00:00
All cattle are grass-fed. We finish on grain because grain-finished beef is more tender, juicy, and flavorful thanks to extra marbling developed during the final feeding phase. It has a more consistent taste and texture that most consumers prefer over the leaner, tougher profile of grass-finished beef.
What’s the advantage of buying from you versus the store?2026-02-10T12:23:53+00:00
Quality, transparency, and supporting local! You’re getting premium Black Angus beef with proven genetics, raised without growth hormones. Plus, did you know ~25% of store-bought beef is imported and doesn’t have to be labeled as such? Our beef comes straight from the farm – you know exactly where it’s been from birth to your freezer.
Can I get a quarter beef?2026-02-09T13:00:21+00:00
We do not sell quarters because you cannot customize the cuts on a quarter. We only sell halves and wholes. However, if you want to split a half with a friend or family member, we’re happy to work with you on that!

Complete the form below! We’re glad to answer questions or talk you through your order. We can also accept other payment methods.
